The final week of mock drafts!"We’re only 5 days away from the draft Womens Dwayne Haskins Jersey , and lying season is in full effect. We still have no idea what the Arizona Cardinals are going to end up doing with the 1st overall pick. Draft Kyler Murray and trade Josh Rosen, trade down for a huge draft haul, or pick someone else all together. That will have a ripple affect on the rest of the draft, and what the Redskins decide to do this year.Missouri QB Drew Lock, Duke QB Daniel Jones, and Ohio State Dwayne Haskins are still popular options for the Redskins if they don’t trade for Rosen. But there is a new favorite in the mix for their first overall pick. WR D.K. Metcalf is the overwhelming non-QB favorite this week for various reasons. A lot of people are giving projected new QB Josh Rosen a big target. Most people just recognize that the Redskins WR corps is...not good. The other positions that keep getting drafted are inside and outside linebacker. Getting an edge rusher in the 1st round this year is a pretty popular option among Redskins fans, and there is a lot of talent at the top this year. The Redskins have more options than ever in this week’s roundup with 4 OLBs being mocked to Washington. Devin Bush is the lone ILB this week.Should the Redskins still draft a QB in the 1st round? Is trading for Josh Rosen the best long-term answer this year? Below are my studs and duds of the game.Studs:Adrian Peterson - AP only got 4 carries, but his first carry of the evening, a 26 yard scamper off the left side, which featured his patented jump-cut, showcased the special talent he is. The 34 year old back looks as fast as he ever was, and the lateral agility is second to none. Ereck Flowers - Flowers was VERY good on the evening at left guard, even when the players to his left and right were not. He looked good in the run game, showing good movement on his pulling, and generating a push up front, and believe it or not, looked stellar in pass pro, both against the Bengals starters and reserves. Could guard be his spot for the future?Jonathan Allen/Daron Payne - The dynamic duo didn’t get to play a ton of snaps, but they certainly made their presence felt when they were on the field. Allen was his usual disruptive self on interior plays and chasing down screens to the outside, and Payne was a rock inside, as well as getting the tipped pass that Nicholson returned for the score. Josh Harvey-Clemons - JHC finally looks the part of an inside linebacker, and on Thursday night, he played the part too. He was all over the field making plays Wes Martin Jersey , and was solid on pass coverage and open-field tackles. It looks like the game has slowed down significantly for him, and now he can just go out and play fast. Montae Nicholson - Nicholson did get called for a questionable “lowering the head” penalty, but the third year safety looked in control when he was on the field. He made an interception down by the goalline on a tipped pass, and took it to the house. There is no doubt this young man has the speed!Landon Collins - Collins didn’t get a ton of burn during the game, but he made his presence felt when he was on the field. Early in the game, he came up to make two impact tackles and showed good coverage in a pass to the endzone. Duds:Geron Christian Sr.- The second year left tackle did not fare well against the Bengals starters or reserves Thursday night. He struggled against both speed and power, and looked pretty much over-matched all evening. Josh Norman - Look, I get that the penalty called on Norman was complete BS, but you’ve got to keep your composure. Aside from that, he whiffed on an open-field tackle early on. If you’re going to talk the talk, you better walk the walk, and on Thursday night, Norman did not. Tony Bergstrom - I thought Bergstrom’s job may have been safe when we entered camp, as he givesthe Redskins a veteran presence who can play both center and guard, but after watching the first two preseason games, it’s pretty clear his job is ANYTHING but safe. He looked awful again Thursday - this time against the Bengals reserves. Dustin Hopkins - Hopkins had a case of the yips Thursday night missing a field goal and an extra point in ugly fashion. It’s best he get this out of his system before the season starts. Redskins Special Teams - This is the second game in a row the Redskins have given up a return TD. Not good! The Refs - Horrible job!
After the Steelers acquired Minkah Fitzpatrick earlier this week James Conner Jersey , head coach Mike Tomlin said that the team was going to “anchor” him at free safety to kick off his time in Pittsburgh. That’s a significant difference to Fitzpatrick’s time in Miami as the Dolphins used him as a cornerback, safety and hybrid safety/linebacker at various points in his year-plus with the team. Fitzpatrick felt there were points when the Dolphins played him in the wrong spot, but said on Wednesday that he’s happy with the approach that the Steelers are taking with him as he begins his run with the team.“Right now I think it’s important to anchor me down because I’m learning an entire new system,” Fitzpatrick said, via PennLive.com. “Once I learn the system more I’m willing to move around because I think that’s a vital part of my game, is versatility https://www.thesteelerslockerroom.com/authentic-terrell-edmunds-jersey , being able to move around.”The Steelers will surely look to get as much out of Fitzpatrick as possible after dealing a first-round pick for him, but a slimmer portfolio off the bat would seem to be the best way to start seeing a return on their investment immediately. The full KDKA-TV interview of Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, coincidentally (or not) timed to land one night before Roethsliberger is due to face reporters for the first time this offseason, has landed. Among other things, Roethlisberger contends that he still considers a former teammate who has criticized Roethlisberger mercilessly in recent months to be a friend.Roethlisberger explained to Bob Pompeani of KDKA-TV that the quarterback has tried on multiple occasions to contact Antonio Brown.“Haven’t heard back,” Roethlisberger said. “I’m sure he’s getting busy with his season Womens Terrell Edmunds Jersey , and getting ready as I am with the guys we have here. I really am looking forward to reconnecting with him, talking. Because like I said he’s a good friend of mine. I still call him a good friend. I hope that we can reconnect and I hope that our friendship can continue to grow.”The friendship has done anything but grow in 2019; Brown has systematically obliterated it. And the tipping point apparently came when Roethlisberger called Brown out on a weekly radio show after Pittsburgh’s loss to the Broncos.“It’s a fine line to walk sometimes of giving information out, giving kind of some cool things for the fans to be a part of, and maybe saying too much,” Roethlisberger said of his in-season appearances on 93.7 The Fan. “And I know that I took some heat and deservedly so for some of the comments that I’ve made on that show, especially towards him. And I genuinely feel bad about that and I’m sorry. Did I go too far after that Denver game? Probably.”Roethlisberger arguably went a little too far in trying to explain away his past criticism of Brown Womens James Conner Jersey , whom Roethlisberger said in late November should have “flattened” his route on a play that resulted in a game-deciding end-zone interception.“I can see where that comment was perceived to be negative towards A.B. but it wasn’t meant that way,” Roethlisberger said. “It was more — just like everything during the season, it’s a compliment to A.B. because he’s doubled every single play. . . . . It’s still so amazing, is that he was able to do it through all the adversity of double- and triple-teams. And so it was more meant that I should have gone to JuJu [Smith-Schuster] because he was single covered.”Roethlisberger also was asked about the personal impact of widespread criticism, provoked by his good friend, of the quarterback’s leadership skills.“They were hurtful T. J. Watt Jersey White ,” Roethlisberger said of the critical remarks, “and it was hurtful to myself. I always want to get better. I always strive to be the best that I can be. And last year we weren’t good enough. We lost six games, we didn’t make the playoffs. So I need to, as a leader of that football team, because leadership is ultimately about winning football games, and I didn’t a good enough job of being a leader because we didn’t make the playoffs.”A little more leadership may be needed this year Terrell Edmunds Jersey White , from Roethlisberger and others. That “two face” tweet posted by Brown after excerpts from the Roethlisberger interview emerged on Monday afternoon was “liked” by Steelers safety Terrell Edmunds, who has since “un-liked” Brown’s tweet but also has “liked” tweets criticizing Edmunds for “liking” Brown’s tweet.

He didn’t speak with the media prior to the draft amidst swirling rumors the Raiders were considering trading him and drafting a quarterback, so he never had to address any of it.The closest he came to making a statement was when he got angry with First Take hosts Max Kellerman and Stephen A Smith for saying Carr “Didn’t want it” and that Gruden was looking at replacing him. Carr challenged them to a televised fight. He was obviously not serious about the televised match per se, but he wasn’t joking around either, calling them “clowns” and saying “You don’t know me, stop lying.”Now that the draft has come and gone and Carr is still right where he was when it all started, he stepped to the mic and pronounced what we all knew he would — that there was never a doubt in his mind.“Honestly it got annoying after a while because I’m like…literally they don’t have nothing else to talk about? And I didn’t help the situation trying to challenge people to fights (laughs). I shouldn’t have said nothing.“But to be honest with you, it was like the owner, the GM, the head coach and the quarterback, I don’t know about other places, but here, we’re all on the same page. I talked to all three of those guys all the time. They tell me good, bad, and ugly. We are always on the same page because that’s what our team needs. That’s what the good organizations do. So, from the beginning I met with all of them, talked with all of them Derek Carr Jersey White , and when I watched the draft there was like negative 47% chance that they were going to draft somebody in my mind. Hopefully those guys didn’t have their hopes up, but it wasn’t going to happen. They pretty much said that every time it came up, if it even came up. We’re not just planning for this year. I’m honestly going to be here a long time.”Carr is right in so far as he is the QB of the immediate future of this team. That much has been decided. It’s hindsight now. But the pressure is on. He is entering his second season in the same offense for just the second time in his NFL career and Gruden stocked the offense around him. He will need to show vast improvement this season. It’s in his hands in as much as his performance this season should be the determining factor as to whether he is the QB of this team heading into Vegas. But it’s not his decision. Should he not ball out in his second season, he will undoubtedly be replaced. Even though Carr knows that conversation is coming, it’s a concept he claims is a whole lot of nonsense.“Let’s just get through this year first and then we’ll play that game again and I’ll probably have some more fun with it, but I’m not going anywhere,” Carr reiterated. “This is my team and it will be for the next however long I want to play.”His head coach shows moments of confidence in his quarterback, but never to the level Carr displays. The Raiders finished 4-12 last season with Carr throwing 19 TD’s with 10 Interceptions and was sacked 52 times. Regardless of any other factors, no QB should feel their job is safe after putting up those kind of numbers.“Derek did a lot of good things [last season],” said Gruden. “We’re trying to obviously work on a couple things we think he can get better at. We’ve also tried to improve his supporting cast at every level. We tried to improve our defense, hopefully we can get the ball to him more often and in better field position. We’ve added some receivers, we added a running back, we’ve added a couple linemen, so hopefully a lot of these things will show up and he’ll be a great quarterback which I know he will be.”Carr said himself just today that James Jones told him “Once you think you’re good, you’re definitely not good.” It’s a way of saying he always needs to prove himself. being here “However long (he) want(s) to play” is meaningless in that light. If he doesn’t prove himself, there will be more than just rampant rumors about the Raiders plans at quarterback.
Every year since the fullback joined the Broncos it seems the team has promised to bring back the relevance of the position. This season it might actually happen." Denver Broncos RosterAndy Janovich looking for an expanded role in Broncos’ new offense — againNew Royce Freeman Jersey ,40commentsEvery year since the fullback joined the Broncos it seems the team has promised to bring back the relevance of the position. This season it might actually happen.MDTSelected in the sixth round of the 2016 NFL Draft, fullback Andy Janovich has been waiting patiently for the Broncos to use a fullback in their offense the way they keep promising. But with Rich Scangarello taking over to become Janovich’s fourth offensive coordinator in four years, this could finally be the Year of the Janobeast. Andy Janovich profileWhen Janovich was drafted by the Broncos in 2016, Broncos Country immediately grew nostalgic of the Mike Shanahan/Gary Kubiak offense that made great use of Howard Griffith’s blocking, rushing and receiving talents. In Griffith’s four years in Denver in the late 90s, he logged 68 receptions for 445 yards, along with 117 rushing yards and a total of seven touchdowns. But the promise of a run-heavy offense, powered in part by a fullback never really came to fruition under Kubiak in2016 and then never gained any steam under Mike McCoy or Bill Musgrave. So Broncos Country — and Janovich — are salivating somewhat over the possibilities under new offensive coordinator Rich Scangarello who comes from the 49ers, working in Kyle Shanahan’s system that took great advantage of fullback Kyle Juszczyk’s ability as a route runner and a blocker.“A lot of stuff [Juszczyk] did, I can do. I can block. Whatever route running they’ll have me do, I think I can do it,” Janovich said earlier this month on Orange and Blue Radio. “That guy never came off the field, so I’m excited just to get more playing time.”The former Nebraska Cornhusker is known for his penchant to deliver hard hits - and enjoy it. And his consistent work ethic plus a “do-whatever-it-takes” mentality about football has earned him the respect of teammates, who rewarded him with a team captain designation in 2018.Heading into his fourth year — and final one on his rookie contract — this season could be a big test for Janovich. The goodAlthough Janovich has never gotten the Howard Griffith offensive stats we’ve all hoped for, his blocking has been second to none - often being the impetus behind many game-changing plays from the Broncos’ offense. He is a versatile fullback who can do it all — run, catch, block John Elway Jersey , tackle, and play special teams. He’s also known to be a weight room warrior, and we’ve all seen there’s never a block he won’t take. But he has been known to be a great rusher and receiver when he’s needed to be.And when his football career comes to an end, there’s always baseball apparently. As the home-run derby winner in a recent charity event, Janovich crushed it.The bad If there is something “bad” about Andy Janovich, then you tell me, because I don’t see it.He’s a tough player who works hard, doesn’t mind being in the background to a big play but takes care of business when he needs to be the center of it. His teammates chose him as a special teams team captain for a reason, and his selfless play speaks volumes. If anything, the only “bad” has been the general game plan that has never taken full advantage of No. 32’s talents.QuotableJanovich had joined Andrew Mason and Steve Atwater last week on “1st and 10” and when Atwater asked what Janovich thought of football today compared to the days of good ol’ smash mouth football, Jano clearly knew he was talking to the Smilin Assassin. The reply got a nice chuckle out of Mase and Atwater, who added, “that’s just the mentality of a fullback.”Andy Janovich HighlightsAndy Janovich’s roster status with the BroncosJanovich’s status as the starting fullback is relatively safe, though he could have a little competition from rookie George Alston who would certainly be cheaper in the coming years as Janovich is on the final year of his rookie contract. But MHR’s Joe Rowles recently classified Jano as one of the Broncos’ important “role players” whose new contract is certainly not going to break the bank. As a 2018 captain and a hard-hitting, tackle-loving baller, Janovich’s status on the team should be safe. How much he is used is still waiting to be seen. Broncos draft picks have something in common: leadershipPhoto by David Becker/Getty ImagesJohn Elway has found his groove when it comes to the NFL Draft. The last two years Womens Joe Flacco Jersey , he and his staff have used their codex to great success for the Denver Broncos — they target captains and leaders on their college teams. So those players are a combination of confident, humble, mature and well-spoken. The first four picks for Elway and the Broncos in this year’s Draft followed that path. Right on cue, Denver employed the same strategy with their two picks in the final rounds on Saturday when it selected linebacker Justin Hollins from Oregon and receiver Juwann Winfree from Colorado. Both were captains on their respective teams and bring those same qualities from college to the Broncos. In terms of Hollins, he brings needed depth to Denver’s edge guys but enough versatility to play inside if Vic Fangio needs it. Hollins can also contribute on special teams. When you add in his ability to create pressure in the passing and running game (14 sacks, 36 tackles for a loss in his career for the Ducks) to forcing turnovers (seven forced fumbles for his career), this is a great pick. Former NFL scout Dan Shonka said Hollins could be the sleeper of the draft for the Broncos. Christoper Hart made a great point when he saw a tweet from Jim Leavitt. Leavitt coached Hollins at Oregon. Leavitt also coached with Fangio during their time together with the San Francisco 49ers. Connections matter. No doubt there was insight from Leavitt to Fangio on Hollins. What will endear Hollins to fans is when he told Andrew Mason, Brandon Krisztal, Mike Rice and Ryan Edwards: “Hopefully I can be a Bronco for the rest of my life.” In terms of Winfree, the pick seemed to catch people off guard given what else was on the board at receiver. But there’s no doubt the fact he played for the Buffs helped. “I know Phillip Lindsay put in a huge word for me with the Broncos,” Winfree told the media after the pick. “That’s my big brother right there.”That, and being a guy who has high upside and will put in the work for Denver. Ryan Koenigsberg noted that over the last two years, 11 out 16 draft picks for the Broncos have been team captains (seven in 2018, four this year). The other five no doubt could have been. After the success of the 2018 draft, Broncos Country and NFL fans wanted to see how Elway and Denver would respond. Well, Elway and the Broncos have now killed it in two-straight drafts. It’s clear the codex they uncovered prior to last year is working to great success.

It was reported that the team is waiving Tyler Catalina who was spending time at tackle and guard this year in camp. The Redskins also waived center Casey Dunn with an injury designation. The Redskins had 5 offensive linemen workout after practice yesterday. One of them was guard Hugh Thornton who hasn't played an NFL game since 2015. He signed with the Falcons in 2017, but announced his retirement due to chronic injuries. He started his comeback this year by signing with the Arizona Hotshots of the now defunct Alliance of American Football. The Redskins are still dealing with the Trent Williams holdout, and the effect it is having on their offensive line during training camp. Ereck Flowers was signed to try to salvage his career as a guard, but was forced to play tackle for OTAs, mini-camp, and the start of training camp. Geron Christian Sr. and Chase Roullier had their first full team practices yesterday.Washington has to find their starter at LG soon, and have been trying Wes Martin. The rookie has looked uneven in camp. Backups(and their backups) have been forced into starting roles due to injuries over the last two years. Finding capable depth is a big concern for this team, and they don't seem happy with what they have there. WASHINGTON (AP) — Kansas City has agreed to trade quarterback Alex Smith to Washington, a move that spells the end of Kirk Cousins’ time with the Redskins and hands the Chiefs’ job to Patrick Mahomes. Two people with direct knowledge of the deal confirmed the move to The Associated Press on Tuesday night on condition of anonymity because the transaction can’t be completed until the start of the new league year in March. One person told the AP the Redskins had agreed to a four-year extension with Smith, who had one year left on his contract.Smith, who turns 34 in May, spent the past five seasons with the Chiefs, leading them to the playoffs four times while throwing for 102 touchdowns and 33 interceptions. He carries a $17 million salary-cap hit for 2018.Kansas City saves cap space and can turn to Mahomes, the 10th pick in last year’s draft out of Texas Tech, as its new starter.Smith becomes Washington’s new franchise quarterback after throwing for 31,888 yards and 183 touchdowns in 12 NFL seasons with the San Francisco 49ers and Chiefs.Smith is “one of the best competitors and teammates I’ve ever been around,” Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce posted on Twitter. “Someone who I owe a lot of my success to https://www.theredskinslockerroom.com/authentic-terry-mclaurin-jersey , and a guy that’s been a class act through all the ups n downs.”11<button class="view-gallery">View Gallery</button> Gallery:Top 10 NFL Selling Jerseys of 2017Matthew Emmons-USA TODAY Sports | Matthew EmmonsThe Redskins acquired Smith and signed him to the kind of long-term deal they balked at with Cousins, who became the first QB to play back-to-back seasons on the franchise tag. Cousins can become a free agent next month at age 29.“Nothing really surprises me anymore,” Redskins tight end Niles Paul tweeted . Former Redskins QB Robert Griffin III tweeted : “Some how…Some way…they will blame this on me. No doubt.”Cousins, drafted by the Redskins in the fourth round out of Michigan State in 2012 — the same year they traded up to Griffin with the No 2 pick — likely leaves Washington with the fourth-most passing yards in franchise history, more than 16,000.Under coach Jay Gruden, all 16 games for three consecutive seasons. He threw for at least 4,000 yards in each, while totaling 81 touchdowns and 36 interceptions. But Washington only played in one playoff game during that span, going 9-7, 8-7-1 and, most recently, 7-9 in Cousins’ time as a starter.Cousins has been the biggest question hovering over Washington’s offseason — and, indeed, hovering over the whole organization for a couple of years as the team failed to sign him to a long-term deal.According to ESPN, Washington is sending a third-round draft pick and cornerback Kendall Fuller to Kansas City in the trade, which cannot be finalized until March 14. The Kansas City Star first reported the deal. This is the second time a team coached by Andy Reid has traded a 33-year-old QB to the Redskins. Reid’s Philadelphia Eagles dealt Donovan McNabb to Washington in 2010 for second- and third-round picks.
PITTSBURGH (AP) — With stars such as Ben Roethlisberger and Antonio Brown Womens Terrell Edmunds Jersey , Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster admitted he was a little surprised to be voted as the team’s most valuable player. But a breakout second season earned Smith-Schuster the respect of his teammates and MVP honors for the 2018 season.“I didn’t think that it was going to be me,” Smith-Schuster said on Thursday. “With the numbers they put up, you would think that it’s always one of those guys.”Smith-Schuster, the Steelers’ second-round pick in 2017, is tied for fifth in the league with 106 catches and fourth in the NFL with 1,389 receiving yards, while also scoring six touchdowns. The dynamic 22-year-old is the youngest NFL player to reach 100 receptions in a season. He caught 11 passes for 115 yards last Sunday at New Orleans despite battling a groin injury sustained in practice.“He’s been very consistent, and he’s battled through injury, on again, off again all year,” Steelers offensive coordinator Randy Fichtner said.“He’s learned how to be a pro and I think his teammates realize that about him. He’s brought a lot of energy to our group.”Smith-Schuster, a former USC star, enjoyed a dynamic rookie season with 58 receptions for 917 yards and seven touchdowns, but he’s outdone himself in 2018.Smith-Schuster’s 1,389 yards are the seventh most in single-season team history and his eight 100-yard receiving games — third most in the league through Week 16 — are tied for the second most by a Steeler, behind Brown, in single-season team history.Smith-Schuster reached 1 Terrell Edmunds Jersey White ,500 yards in his 21st game and caught his 150th pass in his 28th, setting a franchise record in both categories for the fewest to the mark. Now, he’s 111 yards shy from a 1,500-yard season and four receptions from becoming the third player in team history — joining Brown and Hines Ward — with 110 catches in a season.Smith-Schuster said the Steelers MVP award meant more than a Pro Bowl snub earlier this month.“My teammates and people in my locker room voted for me,” Smith-Schuster said. “It means a lot that they have my back.”The 36-year-old Roethlisberger, in his 15th season, is also in the midst of career milestones.Roethlisberger, who was voted team MVP in 2009, needs 158 yards Sunday against Cincinnati to break his franchise record for most passing yards in a season and become the sixth NFL quarterback to reach 5,000 yards in a season.Brown, a four-time team MVP, is also enjoying another strong season. He leads the league with 15 touchdowns, is tied for seventh with 104 receptions and ninth with 1,297 receiving yards.Smith-Schuster said he appreciated the support from his teammates.“You talk about guys who have been in the league for 10 years-plus,” Smith-Schuster said. “I’m only 22 years old and this is only my second year in the league. To have their respect, it’s awesome.”Smith-Schuster said he sought to build a better rapport with Roethlisberger entering his second season. He wanted to establish a similar chemistry with Roethlisberger that the Super Bowl-winning quarterback has shared with Brown for several seasons.“It’s pretty cool that I was a kid watching (Roethlisberger and Brown) go at it every week and put those numbers up,” Smith-Schuster said. “To be part of it and to do what they’re doing is pretty cool.”Now Womens JuJu Smith-Schuster Jersey , Smith-Schuster, like Roethlisberger and Brown, can call himself a Steelers team MVP.“You always want to see a big jump from the first year to the second, and then the bigger jump is in the third year,” Steelers receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey said. “I think he’s already taken that third-year jump and he’s going to continue to get better.”NOTES: Brown missed Thursday’s practice with a knee injury. Safety Sean Davis (quad) and linebacker Vince Williams (toe) also didn’t practice on Thursday. RB James Conner, who missed the past three games with an ankle injury, practiced for the second straight day. With a rash of new offenses sweeping the league, the Pittsburgh Steelers are staying the course.“We’re going to be the same, boring old Steelers,” quarterback Ben Roethlisberger told John Kryk of the on Thursday. “There’s something to be said about not making big changes, and just getting better at what you already know.”Within what the Steelers already know, there are plenty of unknowns. This will the first year without either Antonio Brown or Le'Veon Bell on the team since 2009, and it remains to be seen how defenses will approach the Pittsburgh offense.Presumably, they’ll try to take away 2018 team MVP and new No. 1 receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster with two or more defenders. If not, his numbers will reflect that. Then comes the question of whether the running backs will draw a safety toward the line of scrimmage, like Bell did. James Conner thrived last year, in an offense that had Brown. If Conner Womens T. J. Watt Jersey , who now enters his third season, can find another gear to his game, the focus on Smith-Schuster could shift to Conner.Ultimately, the goal will be for Smith-Schuster and Conner to become the new Brown and Bell. Along the way, other players will need to step up to take advantage of favorable matchups, whether that’s receiver Donte Moncrief, receiver James Washington, receiver Diontae Johnson, receiver Ryan Switzer, or tight end Vance McDonald.Still, Roethlisberger remains at the center of it all, and it’s quite possible that Roethlisberger is the real reason for the team’s success on offense, with his decisions and throws ultimately providing the impetus for moving the chains, scoring points, and winning games.
With Gronk’s status still up in the air and Dwayne Allen gone Womens Derek Carr Jersey , the Patriots need to make other plans at tight end. And they apparently are.Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports that the Patriots “aggressively courted” Jared Cook before he chose the Saints.Cook, 31, is actually older than Gronkowski, and Cook entered the league a year before Gronk. Cook’s best season ever came in 2018, when he caught 68 passes for 896 yards and six touchdowns for a Raiders offense that didn’t have a whole lot around him.Gronkowski caught 47 passes for 682 yards and three touchdowns in 2018, his worst season featuring more than eight games played since his rookie year. But he came on strong in the postseason, helping the Patriots to another Super Bowl win.Although the Patriots typically like to have two quality pass-catching tight ends if they can, the decision to pursue Cook before getting a decision on retirement from Gronk raises an important question regarding Gronk’s future: Do the Patriots still want him? Given what he can do if healthy in the postseason, they should. Given his production in the regular season, he could be moving toward the territory in which coach Bill Belichick has a reputation for moving on one year too early instead of one year too late. And it still may not be too late to get Cook. Despite multiple reports that a deal is close and comments from Cook talking about catching passes from Saints quarterback Drew Brees, Cook still hasn’t officially signed with the Saints. Until he does, Cook remains potentially in play. The Broncos had kicker Taylor Bertolet on their roster for part of the 2018 offseason https://www.broncoslockerroom.com/authentic-von-miller-jersey , but he was cut in early May so he never really competed with Brandon McManus for the kicking job in Denver. That could be different this summer. Bertolet signed with the Broncos in late April after making 8-of-14 field goal attempts for the Salt Lake entry in the Alliance of American Football and is set to go to camp with the team next month.McManus has been the kicker in Denver for the last five years and is coming off a year that saw him make every field goal inside of 50 yards while missing 5-of-7 from longer range. He said he’s comfortable competing with someone in camp and feels comfortable competing with those outside the team as well.“I’ve had another kicker in camp with me every other year,” McManus said, via the . “It’s nothing that I’m not used to and it’s always good to have someone competing against you. And it’s not just [Bertolet]. There are 31 other jobs out there and a bunch of others kicking as well.”Head coach Vic Fangio said that Bertolet will have to “knock him out like in a heavyweight battle” to win the job this summer, which may be a Buster Douglas-level upset given McManus’s successful run in Denver thus far. Linebacker Shaq Barrett played only 275 defensive snaps in 13 games last season. He knew his best option in free agency would be a one-year, prove-it deal with a team that would give him more playing time.He hopes his one-year, $5 million deal with the Buccaneers turns into a multi-year deal this time next year.“Last year I didn’t play as much so I knew I wasn’t going to be getting nothing crazy https://www.broncoslockerroom.com/authentic-phillip-lindsay-jersey ,” Barrett said, via video from Pewter Report. “Just to prove like my worth is all I wanted to do. I’m going to bet on myself 100 percent of the time. I’m just going to go out there and do my job and let everybody see why I came here, and then hopefully be changing into a multi-year contract. I’m happy they gave me the opportunity, and I’m going to take advantage of it and run with it.”The Broncos used him as a rotational pass rusher most of his four seasons in Denver Phillip Lindsay Jersey White , and he made 14 sacks. He should get more opportunities in Todd Bowles’ 3-4 defense in Tampa.“I just love the scheme a lot,” Barrett said. “Coach Bowles, I talked to him a couple of times. He showed me some of the stuff that he’s been working on and drawing up when I did the visit. It’s going to be a lot of fun this year.”

Swearinger hasn’t been shy about airing his grievances with his team this season and he was in the Festivus spirit after Saturday’s loss to Tennessee.Swearinger was critical of defensive coordinator Greg Manusky’s calls on the drive that ended with Tennessee’s go-ahead score.he team playing man-to-man on a third down play that resulted in a holding penalty on cornerback Fabian Moreau.Swearinger thought the call was “horrible” and wasn’t much kinder about the coordinator’s decision to put Moreau in that position against Titans backup quarterback Blaine Gabbert.“In that type of situation, you got a backup quarterback, I wouldn’t call man-to-man to make it easy for him,” Swearinger said, via NBC Sports Washington. “He hadn’t practiced all week. So, disguise a zone and let him throw the ball right to us. We didn’t make the plays we needed to, but when it’s crunch time, put us somewhere where we can make a play. Don’t put us in man-to-man where it’s easy for the quarterback. It’s too easy for the quarterback.”After one of Swearinger’s previous blasts, head coach Jay Gruden said he spoke to the safety about keeping his thoughts inside the team rather than sharing them with the outside world. Swearinger chose to go a different way on Saturday.

(AP) — The message couldn’t have been clearer when the Pittsburgh Steelers called Sutton Smith on the final day of the NFL draft.Yes, the Steelers liked Smith’s production at defensive end at Northern Illinois. His 15 sacks as a senior were kind of hard to miss Womens Terrell Edmunds Jersey , particularly for a 6-foot, 233-pound guy who doesn’t exactly fit the physical profile of an elite pass rusher.None of it mattered, however, once the Steelers took a flyer on Smith in the sixth round. Asked what he remembers about his first conversation with the coaching staff, Smith laughed.“‘Time to be an athlete,'” Smith said with a laugh. They weren’t kidding. The star high school running back who scored 32 touchdowns as a senior before transitioning to a defensive end in college is getting a crash course at outside linebacker and fullback in the NFL, often in the same practice.“It’s a slow work in progress right now Womens James Conner Jersey ,” Smith said. “Just trying to figure out the kinks and do what’s best for me and the organization right now.”Smith is up for whatever, which is a good thing because there’s a decent chance head coach Mike Tomlin might ask Smith to do. The 23-year-old is among a handful of rookies who arrived at their first training camp being asked to do a job far different than the one they were recruited to do in college.“Young guys with versatility, young guys that are capable to do multiple jobs is an asset,” Tomlin said.Third-round pick Justin Layne signed with Michigan State as a highly coveted wide receiver prospect. Now he’s a defensive back. Fifth-round selection Zach Gentry was the first splashy signing for Jim Harbaugh at Michigan, a big-armed quarterback who figured if he ever reached the pros, he’d do it heaving passes to the end zone. Instead, he evolved into a 6-foot-8 tight end long on athleticism if admittedly a little short in the finer points of run blocking.“It’s a little surreal T. J. Watt Jersey White ,” Gentry said. Not that Gentry is complaining. At least, not now anyway. That wasn’t exactly the case during Gentry’s freshman year. He remembers rolling out on a bootleg shortly after joining the Wolverines and juking a defender, maybe a little too well. Harbaugh asked Gentry to play scout team wide receiver to mimic a player from BYU, Michigan’s next opponent. When he excelled at that too, Harbaugh approached Gentry and asked him if he’d consider switching positions. It didn’t go well.“I was upset,” Gentry said. “I was really upset. I tried to transfer. Coach Harbaugh kind of sat me down a handful of times and explained that if I stick it out, do his regiment and do what I’m supposed to do Terrell Edmunds Jersey White , I’d go to the NFL as a tight end. I didn’t want to believe him because I wanted to play quarterback. But I believe in him and his record with tight ends. I just stuck it out and luckily everything happened the way it did.”That perseverance is one of the reasons Gentry found himself stretching to make a leaping grab at the goal line at Saint Vincent College on Thursday. His fingertip catch drew a nod of approval from Tomlin and a roar from the crowd nestled in the shade behind the end zone.OK, so it’s not as glamorous as quarterback. But it’ll do. Gentry admits he can still “sling it around” and yeah, there’s a part of him that wouldn’t mind standing next to starting quarterback Ben Roethlisberger to see just how he measures up.“He’d probably school me there,” Gentry said. “I haven’t been working like that.” to get a look at a position. Smith never played a down of fullback in his life until the Steelers started having him moonlight at the position during organized team activities. Smith knows the odds of earning a fullback job over starter Roosevelt Nix — himself a former college defensive lineman — are slim. He also knows nothing is guaranteed for players taken with the 175th overall pick.If he wants to carve out a spot on an NFL roster, be it in Pittsburgh or elsewhere, he can’t get picky about where he lines up. Besides, proving himself is half the fun.“I’m not going to really have anybody tell me that I can’t do something Womens JuJu Smith-Schuster Jersey ,” Smith said. “That’s just not who I am and that’s not my mentality in this sport. I want to show I can do anything.”Good, because he might have to.

The Denver Broncos have more players on injured reserve than we can keep track of Von Miller Jersey White , but heading into Week 17 against the Los Angeles Chargers those that remain are at least mostly healthy. The latest to return from injury is second-year cornerback Brendan Langley.Langley hasn’t played much all season and has struggled mightily coming out of college, but he figures to get some much needed playing time in the teams final - and meaningless - football game of 2018. Then again, maybe not.Head Coach Vance Joseph said on Thursday that Langley will have the same role he’s had all year Royce Freeman Jersey , which likely means he won’t see the field much. Joseph is focused on winning this final game and that means playing the best players he has or at least the best players he has who are not in the doghouse. Ryan Shazier‘s goal is still a return to playing in the NFL, but the linebacker’s current role around the Steelers is limited to continuing his rehab and serving as an advisor to other members of the team. One of the players who is benefitting from Shazier’s mentorship is the guy drafted in hopes of filling much of the hole Shazier left behind on the defense. The Steelers traded up with the Broncos to take said recently that Shazier has been in his ear throughout his first months with the team.“We stay in communication on a daily basis,” Bush said during an appearance on WSVN. “That’s like my big brother John Elway Jersey , honestly. He’s just showing me the ropes, the ins and outs of the NFL and how to be a man.”The lessons seem to be going well for the rookie. Early reviews of Bush’s work in Pittsburgh have been positive and he’s set to be in a major role when the season gets underway in September.
They are called Diva Receivers for a reason. We tend to find out why when NFL pass catchers open their mouths.Cases in point most recently would be two of football’s biggest stars Jerome Bettis Jersey , Antonio Brown and Odell Beckham Jr. What they’ve spouted, no matter how it gets spun and by whom, can’t be anything but detrimental to the team. The history of wideouts with wide mouths — or free rein on social media nowadays — includes, naturally, the likes of Terrell Owens, Plaxico Burress, Keyshawn Johnson and Chad Johnson/Ochocinco. To call their utterings constructive criticism would be like calling Lambeau Field balmy in December. And they hardly are the only guys who have damaged the locker room vibes with their, well, bad vibes. Do you think cornerback Jalen Ramsey deriding opposing players made for comfortable feelings in Jacksonville? Guard Richie Incognito bullying a teammate in Miami? Jay Cutler calling out his own guys just about everywhere, including on the sideline?Hey, cornerback Josh Norman and Beckham pretty much came to blows in a 2015 game after their trash-talking shenanigans.Sure James Conner Jersey , lots if not most NFL players like to run their tongues during games. Philip Rivers might not be the greatest Chargers quarterback ever — remember Hall of Famer Dan Fouts? — but he’s unquestionably the franchise’s great trash-spewing QB. Steve Smith, one of the most combative receivers the NFL has seen, definitely didn’t believe in the bromide “if you have nothing good to say, say nothing.”And Ray Lewis not only was an all-world tackler and leader for the Ravens, his stream of words directed at opponents was steady — and often comical, if unprintable. But in the particular cases of Brown and Beckham, there can be considerable negative fallout for their clubs. So much so that the tension and mistrust they create can be as damaging as a fourth-quarter pick-6 by an opponent.Brown might be the NFL’s most talented offensive player. He might also be the most thin-skinned.Among other items this year, he tweeted that Pittsburgh should “trade me let’s find out” when it was suggested his success is due more to Ben Roethlisberger than to Brown’s skills. Brown also didn’t show up at team headquarters for a day last month, and famously once livestreamed a locker room celebration following a playoff victory over Kansas City.He also used Twitter in September to threaten a reporter who covers the team, forcing the Steelers to issue an apology. Explaining away Brown’s behavior, words and social media posts has become nearly a regular chore in Pittsburgh. All of this doesn’t mean Brown needs to be sat down by the Steelers https://www.thesteelerslockerroom.com/authentic-terrell-edmunds-jersey , which isn’t likely to happen considering they are in the business of winning games and he is their best player. It does mean he should be sat down and told that his proclamations and actions are a distraction for a team that isn’t exactly tearing up the NFL, sitting tied with Cleveland and behind Cincinnati and Baltimore in the AFC North. The Beckham blowups have been more inflammatory and, without question, potentially more harmful. When you question your teammates’ heart while carefully removing yourself from such a claim, irreparable damage often results.“A lot of it has to do with the energy we have that we don’t bring every single day,” he said last week. “You know me, I’m a passionate, energetic person. I always have to have that. If I don’t, it’s going to be a problem for me. Playing with some heart, we need to play with some heart.”Beckham also blasted the play-calling of first-year coach Pat Shurmur, mainly because Womens Terrell Edmunds Jersey , in Beckham’s view, he wasn’t getting the ball enough, particularly deep. Never mind that the offensive line has been such a sieve that asking Eli Manning to throw balls anywhere downfield has often been problematic.Recognizing how counter-productive his comments were — or being instructed by a livid coach or, perhaps, someone higher up in the Giants’ command chain — Beckham went into crisis control last Sunday. He asked to speak to the team in the locker room, and then he ran something of a fly pattern away from his earlier statements. This season is hardly the first time Brown or Beckham have acted up or acted out. It probably won’t be the last. But maybe the concept of “team first” will sink in before what they do or say sinks their teams.Steelers Film Room: Top-10 NFL CBs don’t have games like Joe Haden did vs. the Ravens August 30, 2017, is when Pittsburgh Steelers fans rejoiced after Joe Haden was signed upon his release by the Cleveland Browns. The excitement roared up and down the BTSC boards. Fans were so excited to have a legit Pro Bowl cornerback come to town — a cornerback selected to the Pro Bowl in 2013 and 2014, while amassing seven interceptions and 40 pass deflections over the span. Unfortunately, Steelers fans glossed over 2015 and 2016 when Haden didn’t play well while missing 14 games. His contract seemed reasonable at three years and $27 million. Haden’s 2017 low-ish salary of $3.2 million paid by the Steelers — with the Browns picking up the rest — pushed his total salary to $7 million due to the no-offset language in his contract. His annual contract makes him the nineteenth highest paid cornerback. The issue that a segment of Pittsburgh fans has with Haden is that he’s the eighth highest-paid cornerback this year following an injury-plagued and lackluster year. This year appears to be the same dog-and-pony show as the past three years. Haden couldn’t finish the first game of the 2018 season against his old team — then missed Week 2 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Will the hamstring injury heal? Or will it cost Haden more games down the road like so many other soft-tissue injuries affecting aging cornerbacks? The Baltimore Ravens game optimized where Haden is at in this stage of his career.(I apologize but I didn’t put arrows designating Haden’s position in these videos. I had already uploaded the videos when I realized my blunder.)The first play by Haden that’s bothersome is his clear lack of interest during the run game. Does Haden look like he has any interest in putting a hat on the running back?Who takes the blame for the touchdown to John Brown? Fans can debate whether it is Cameron Sutton, Haden T. J. Watt Jersey White , Keith Butler or Mike Tomlin. Joe Haden is in his ninth year while Sutton is in his second. Haden has to take that leadership role by the horns and communicate who will cover who on the play. For those who think Haden is a solid cornerback, this play epitomizes why Flacco didn’t fear him and threw his way all night. Haden bit on the pump-fake but an inept Flacco missed out on a sure six.Haden is so worried about Brown’s deep speed he lets the speedy wideout get wide open on a crossing route. Brown had to slow down to make the reception, otherwise this would have been a long-gainer.Flacco sails another pass to Brown where he gained separation on Haden.Flacco throws deep down the seam to Brown — Haden makes a fine play but the only reason he’s even in the play is that Brown has to slow down.Flacco playing easy pitch and catch with Michael Crabtree while Haden fails to wrap him up, giving Crabtree the first down. The two cornerbacks at the top of the play are in man-coverage, and it can be assumed that Haden was in man as well. Yet again, a missed tackle. trailing by three late in the third quarter. If Haden was the Steelers second cornerback making a $5-million salary, fans wouldn’t have an issue with his play. But that’s not the case — he’s the top cornerback, making $12 million this year. Joe Flacco is an average NFL quarterback who had no fear in attacking Haden for four quarters. So what happens when an elite quarterback, Matt Ryan, locks onto Julio Jones (Jones leads the NFL with 502 receiving yards) on Sunday? Being viewed as the best cornerback in a bad secondary doesn’t mean Haden is close to being a top NFL cornerback worthy of the top-10 pay he’s receiving.
There are 32 teams in the NFL. And Johnny Townsend is now the 33rd ranked punter in the NFL. How is that possible Womens Derek Carr Jersey , you ask? Well, the Broncos changed punters this season. They cut former Raiders punter Marquette King and replaced him with former Raiders punter Colby Wadman.Wadman was the Raiders punter briefly this offseason after the team cut King. Then when the Raiders drafted Townsend, they cut Wadman. Now Townsend has a worse punting average than either one of them. And King isn’t even employed right now.Townsend is averaging 41.9 yards per punt, which is the worst average of any punter with at least 12 punts this season. He also has just 6 punts inside the 20 which is 29th in the league. Thursday night he had a 23-yard punt and a punt with a 34-yard net. There was an interesting moment in that game when 49ers 2015 5th round pick punter booted a 64-yard punt that pinned the Raiders at the 6-yard line. That punt was longer by itself than both of Townsend’s first two punts combined. It was also his 13th punt inside the 20 — more than twice as many as Townsend. These dud punts aren’t just a one-game thing. In the previous two games Townsend had punts of 25, 27, and 28 yards. But Gruden is sticking with his 5th round rookie. Why? Because he remembers when another of his 5th round rookies had some issues with his punting.“Yeah. Like I said, I think he’s overthinking some things a little bit. Directional punting, putting the ball between the numbers to the side line to the right, to the left, getting it off quicker Antonio Brown Raiders Jersey , whatever it may be,” said Gruden when asked if he is sticking with Townsend.“I make no excuses for Townsend, but I will say this, I have seen him bomb it. I have seen him be a difference maker and I am confident it’s in our near future. I went through this with [Shane] Lechler. Lechler used to tick me off. He used to punt the ball out of the Black Hole instead of trying to get it inside the 10. I’ve been through it with [Sebastian] Janikowski. Everybody hated Janikowski for the first three or four games. I’m going to be patient and everybody knows that’s not a strength of mine.”I don’t really know where these booming punts happened that Gruden speaks of with regard to Townsend. I saw no such punts in camp. There is no comparison whatsoever with Lechler. I saw him as a rookie in camp and his leg was spectacular. He would launch it and you’d think the crowd was watching a fireworks display. Even with Marquette King you saw some potential. He was wildly inconsistent, but when he got ahold of one, it was a sky shot. To put this in baseball terms, Townsend has a lot of pitches, while Lechler and King will hit you with a 100 mph fast ball and dare you to catch up to it. But thus far, Townsend’s curve balls have had no movement and he’s been walking in runs. For now Gruden is leaving Townsend in to see if he can fight his way through it. Even while most think he should have called to the pen long ago. I’m not making any suggestions here, but both King and Lechler just happen to be free agents at the moment. Just saying.Follow @LeviDamien Training camp goes up a notch for the Raiders on Wednesday Womens Antonio Brown Jersey , but the team’s biggest free-agency arrival won’t be there for it.As noted by Michael Gehlken of the , receiver Antonio Brown remains absent as the Raiders welcome the Rams for two days of joint practice. It will be the eighth practice that Brown has missed, due to feet that were frozen by entering a cryotherapy chamber without proper footwear.“It’s good to go against a different scheme,” quarterback Derek Carr said regarding the joint practices, via Gehlken. “I really enjoy it and especially when it’s two really professional teams that aren’t trying to prove their manhood or prove their toughness to each other. Obviously, football is a physical game, but when there are just fights and brawls, I think that’s pointless.”season, the Raiders and Cowboys got into a knock-down-drag-out fight during training camp at Oxnard Antonio Brown Jersey White , California. The following year, the Rams and Cowboys rumbled in Oxnard. Raiders coach Jon Gruden and Rams coach Sean McVay, who worked together in Tampa and who remain good friends, surely will try to avoid any joint-practice ugliness. The Raiders and Rams will meet in a preseason game on Saturday night in Oakland. Brown surely won’t be playing. Although his condition has been downplayed by the Raiders, it’s clear that it’s not minor. At some point, the Raiders need to start worrying about whether he’ll be available for Week One — and if so whether he’ll be effective.

The Giants were 2-13 and had no motivation, aside from pride, to show up and play. The Redskins were 7-8, and had the opportunity to avoid a losing record by putting the hurt on the flailing Giants in New Jersey. Instead, it was a replay of 2016, with the Giants winning the matchup 18-10.What to expect this weekThis Sunday, a wounded Giants team that seemingly has nothing to play for, coached by a first year head coach, quarterbacked by an over-the-hill veteran being asked this week if he expects to be traded, and surrounded by Twitter reports that the team’s entire defense is available for trade Wes Martin Jersey , will host the first place Redskins, who are seeking to increase their division lead.Common sense tells us that it should be a cakewalk for the Redskins; history says that the team better show up with its collective head screwed on right and ready for battle, because the Giants have a way of playing and beating the Redskins even when it seems they shouldn’t. He came out of Sunday’s game feeling fine but reported concussion-like symptoms earlier this week.“He had concussion symptoms coming out of the game, so we’ll just take his situation day by day,” Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said Wednesday. “To be honest with you, he continued to feel some symptoms after the game. Who will be Steelers No.2 quarterback in 2018 - Joshua Dobbs or Mason Rudolph? Undoubtedly the biggest surprise of the Pittsburgh Steelers roster cuts on Saturday was the release of Landry Jones. While it is clear his talent had been maxed out some years ago Womens Jerome Bettis Jersey , the inexperience of Joshua Dobbs and Mason Rudolph seemed to suggest his job was safe this offseason. As it turns out, the coaching staff were sufficiently impressed by the preseason performances of the two younger quarterbacks on the roster to believe they could live without the veteran experience of Jones after all. The release of the backup quarterback who has been a frustration to a section of the fan base since he was drafted will please many within Steeler Nation, but it leaves a big question about who will assume the No.2 role now he is gone. Although some might consider Dobbs the natural successor, given his play in the preseason and his relative experience in the offense, it is not a forgone conclusion the coaching staff see it that way.Assuming Dobbs does start the year as the backup, there is also no guarantee it will be a job he keeps for the entire season either and the battle between the two young signal callers should be one to keep an eye as the year progresses. For those fans just happy to see Jones finally off the roster, that will be a concern for another day Jerome Bettis Jersey , but who do you think should win role and why? PITTSBURGH (AP) — Mike Tomlin doesn’t like talking about the way his players use social media. The Pittsburgh Steelers coach would prefer to stick to football.Antonio Brown, however, isn’t giving his boss much choice.Tomlin said he plans to speak to the All-Pro wide receiver “directly” after Brown caused a bit of a commotion — again — by taking to Twitter to vent after a former team employee suggested Brown’s stardom is a result of playing with quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.Brown responded by tweeting “trade me let’s find out.” When asked Tuesday if one of the NFL’s most dynamic players has asked to be moved, Tomlin responded “no, no” and laughed.Still, Tomlin believes the seemingly incessant inquiries about Brown’s online behavior is growing tiresome.“It’s important that we understand our position, the light that shines on us and the responsibility that comes with it James Conner Jersey ,” Tomlin said.Tomlin plans to provide Brown with a reminder on Wednesday when the team returns to practice. He wasn’t able to on Monday because Brown did not show up for work.Tomlin declined to say whether Brown’s absence was excused, though in the past Tomlin has typically offered an explanation when a player is out.Brown caught nine passes for 67 yards in a 42-37 loss to Kansas City on Sunday that dropped Pittsburgh to 0-1-1. He has 18 receptions for 160 yards and a touchdown through two games, a pace that would easily have him top 100 receptions for a sixth straight season.Yet Brown has struggled at times to keep his emotions in check, be it on social media or on the sideline. Cameras caught him venting in the second half against Kansas City, and when Roethlisberger dived into the end zone for a 3-yard score that drew the Steelers within five points on Sunday, Brown walked slowly off the field while his teammates celebrated.Tomlin downplayed Brown’s sideline behavior, calling “negative exchanges” the byproduct of not playing well as a whole. The Steelers are off to their worst start since 2013 https://www.thesteelerslockerroom.com/authentic-terrell-edmunds-jersey , when they dropped their first four games and missed the playoffs.Brown’s in-game behavior has long been a flashpoint. He famously punched a Gatorade bucket in Baltimore last September and more than once had semi-heated exchanges with former offensive coordinator Todd Haley. Roethlisberger isn’t worried about Brown’s outburst on Sunday .“I think it was just frustration,” Roethlisberger said during his weekly appearance on 93.7 The Fan. “He’s a competitor, and he wants to be the best in the world, and he probably is the best in the world. So he wants to make every play and catch every ball and every touchdown, which is what every player wants to do.”Every player, however, has not regularly forced the Steelers to either reprimand him — Brown drew a strong rebuke from Tomlin after livestreaming a locker room celebration following a playoff victory over Kansas City in 2017 — or issue an apology Womens Terrell Edmunds Jersey , as the club did last week when for the way he was portrayed in a story .Tomlin suspended former wide receiver Martavis Bryant for a game last season after Bryant went on Instagram and said he should be playing ahead of rookie JuJu Smith-Schuster.Tomlin said that situation is different because it was one player going after another as opposed to Brown’s latest episodes.Brown will almost certainly be available next Monday when Pittsburgh travels to surprising Tampa Bay (2-0).“He’s been a significant reason why we’ve been successful around here,” Tomlin said of Brown. “He’s going to continue to be.”NOTES: RG David DeCastro (fractured right hand), CB Joe Haden (hamstring) and DT Tyson Alualu (shoulder), who all sat out last week, could return to play against the Buccaneers. … RT Marcus Gilbert (hamstring) and LG Ramon Foster (knee) will be monitored throughout the week. … Tomlin said it’s possible the team could work out punters with Jordan Berry struggling. Berry has a net average of 34.8 through two weeks, a full 5 yards lower than his net average in 2017.
OAKLAND Derek Carr Jersey White , Calif. (AP) — Derek Carr and the Oakland Raiders were flying high the last time they faced the Indianapolis Colts.Carr threw three touchdown passes to lead Oakland to its 12th win of the season on Christmas Eve in 2016, but got knocked out late in that game with a broken ankle. That has sent the Raiders into a downward spiral they still haven’t escaped. The Raiders (1-5) are reeling as they head into Sunday’s game against the Colts (2-5), having traded away No. 1 receiver Amari Cooper to Dallas earlier in the week after previously dealing away star pass rusher Khalil Mack before the season. The trio of Carr, Cooper and Mack were the foundation pieces in Oakland, but now only Carr remains and the team is once again rebuilding.“For me, being in my fifth year, it’s hard if I’m being honest,” Carr said. “Just going out there, I feel like we’ve had to do this a couple of times in my early five years. That part is hard. At the same time, it doesn’t change my mindset.”The Raiders have gone just 7-17 since that victory over the Colts and changed coaches, with Jon Gruden coming in this season to replace the fired Jack Del Rio.Carr’s level of play has also dropped, with him throwing 29 touchdowns and 21 interceptions in his 21 games since then Antonio Brown Raiders Jersey , compared to 38 TD passes and 13 interceptions in the previous 21 games.“I definitely feel like a better player,” Carr said. “I’m smarter. I know more. Talent-wise, I think after last year just recovering from injury, I’m back to my strength and my speed how I want it to be. Absolutely I believe that I have nothing but the best out in front of me. I really do believe that.”Colts coach Frank Reich, who was an assistant in the AFC West with the Chargers for Carr’s first two seasons in the NFL, had plenty of praise for Carr even if his production has dropped of late.“He has really good arm talent,” Reich said. “He sees the field really well. He can make all the throws. He can drive the ball all over the field. He can throw the touch pass. I just think he shows good instincts. I think he has good feel in the pocket. This is a guy who I think can put a lot of points on the board leading an offense.”Here are some other things to watch for Sunday’s game:LINING UPColts general manager Chris Ballard made the offensive line a focal point during the offseason. It shows. For the first time this season, the Colts used the same starting five in consecutive games and they delivered by paving the way for Marlon Mack to rush for a career high 126 yards. It’s only the fifth 100-yard game during Andrew Luck’s seven NFL seasons. Also, Luck has been sacked only once in his last 125 pass attempts after getting sacked 166 times in his first 77 career games.“We must stay vigilant in all areas and we’ve got a great challenge against an aggressive Oakland defense, a defense that’s tough to figure out,” Luck said.WHERE’S THE BEAST?Raiders running back Marshawn Lynch went on injured reserve this week with a groin injury, leaving a big void in Oakland’s offense. Lynch leads the Raiders with 372 yards rushing. Now the bulk of the load will go to Doug Martin Womens Bo Jackson Jersey , whose 3.0 yards per carry the past three seasons is the lowest in the NFL among players with at least 150 attempts. Third-down back Jalen Richard could also take on a bigger role as a runner, and DeAndre Washington figures to get his first action of the season after being hampered by a knee injury in training camp.“You can’t bring another Marshawn Lynch into the game, but we have a solid group of backs who can get the job done,” Richard said.MITCHELL’S RETURNColts safety Mike Mitchell was out of the league until two weeks ago. Now, he’s about to make his first trip back to the Black Hole since he left Oakland in 2012. And while Mitchell said he enjoyed the fans while he was there, the AFC’s reigning defensive player of the week isn’t sure what to expect. But the Raiders’ second-round draft pick in 2009 is just glad to have found a home.“I could be winning an award this week, they could be calling for my head next week,” Mitchell said. “I just take everything with a grain of salt.”JUST FOR KICKSThe final game of Gruden’s first stint as Raiders coach ended with a kick by Adam Vinatieri. On a snowy night in New England on Jan. 19, 2002, Vinatieri kicked a 23-yard field goal in overtime to lead the Patriots to a 16-13 victory. The game was most notable for the “Tuck Rule,” which turned a potential game-sealing strip sack in regulation for Oakland into an incomplete pass, setting the stage for Vinatieri to tie the game with an improbable 45-yard field goal in the snow. Vinatieri is still kicking and needs five points to break Morten Andersen’s NFL career scoring record (2 Bo Jackson Jersey ,544 points). But Vinatieri’s status is in doubt this week because of an injured groin. Today the team announced that they have signed guard Jonathan Cooper, who was the 7th overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft by the Cardinals out of North Carolina.Cooper has played for the Cardinals, Cowboys, Browns, 49ers and most recently the Washington Indigenous Persons last year. Cooper was an All-American and a three-time All-ACC selection and a big-time prospect in college, but injuries have limited his productivity at the pro level. He did start all 13 games he played with Dallas in 2017 and all four of the games he played with Washington in 2018.The 6’2”, 308-pound guard is a well of untapped potential and if he can stay healthy he should be able to fill in admirably for Incognito and add add to the depth at a position which has very little for the Raiders in 2019.In a corresponding move, the Raiders have waived WR Montay Crockett.
Broncos cornerback Chris Harris was heard saying “13 more weeks for me” while making his way out of the Broncos locker room after Sunday’s loss to the Jaguars Womens Von Miller Jersey , which was a message that didn’t call for much interpretation beyond noting that Harris is an impending free agent. On Monday, Harris pushed back at the notion that he’s checked out on the Broncos. He posted on Twitter that he’s “as motivated as ever” to help the Broncos win and said he was frustrated after a fourth straight loss.<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-width="500" data-dnt="true">I love being a Bronco, and the only thing I am unhappy about is losing. Anyone who suggests otherwise is flat out wrong #Strapharris— Chris Harris (@ChrisHarrisJr) September 30, 2019</blockquote>Harris made similar comments, via Troy Renck of TheDenverChannel.com, at a charity event on Monday night. Head coach Vic Fangio was asked about Harris’s postgame remark and chalked it up to “just frustration.”“That’s just common,” Fangio said, via KUSA. “I think he’s obviously a free agent at the end of this year. I don’t worry about it too much. I’ll ask it about it.”Should the season continue to fly off the rails in Denver, Harris is the sort of veteran they might look to trade in order to amass assets for the future but it doesn’t seem like an accelerated departure is in the offing right now. ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) — Chad Kelly outshined Paxton Lynch in the Denver Broncos‘ scrimmage Sunday, and that might have earned him work with the No. 2 offense in his quest to win the backup job behind Case Keenum.“Yeah, he looked good,” coach Vance Joseph said after watching Kelly throw two touchdown passes in a five-play span following Lynch’s erratic performance that included a sack and a near interception.Asked if Kelly will get a “promotion” to working with the 2s, Joseph said, “It hasn’t happened yet. It could happen in the future.”Joseph declared in the offseason the backup job was up for grabs, but throughout the first eight days of training camp Lynch worked with the No. 2 offense and Kelly took scraps with the 3s .Still, Kelly, a seventh-round pick out of Ole Miss in 2017 who sat out his rookie season with knee and wrist injuries, has looked significantly sharper than the error-prone Lynch, the 2016 first-round draft pick from Memphis who failed to beat out another seventh-rounder https://www.broncoslockerroom.com/authentic-von-miller-jersey , Trevor Siemian, in 2016 and ’17.“He’s a playmaker,” Joseph said of Kelly. “He’s always been a playmaker. You watch his college tape two years ago, he just makes plays. He doesn’t always look pretty, but he just makes plays.”After Keenum’s signing this spring, Joseph said Lynch should benefit by sitting back and learning from Keenum rather than fighting for the starting job as he had the last two summers.“It’s definitely helped him, just watching every day how Case prepares for practice,” Joseph said Sunday. “He’s gotten better from that. And half of his job is between the ears. So the better he gets there, the better he’s going to play quarterback for us.”Asked what he felt Lynch had learned from him, Keenum said, “That’s probably a better question for him,” but added, “I think he’s doing a great job getting the ball out, a big, tall guy, he’s got a strong arm and he knows where to go with the football a lot of times and he’s learning from his mistakes, just like we all are.”Lynch was the only QB who didn’t stop to talk with the media after the scrimmage, and the team said he’d address reporters for the first time at camp on Tuesday following the players’ day off.Kelly declined to lobby for snaps with the No. 2 offense.“No, I’ve just got to keep on performing to the best of my ability, execute whatever play is called and find the open guy and bring my team down the field https://www.broncoslockerroom.com/authentic-phillip-lindsay-jersey , whether it’s with the 1s, 2s or 3s,” Kelly said. “I’m focused on trying to get better in the classroom and out here on the football field.”Keenum didn’t get into the end zone in his dozen snaps at the scrimmage, but he did move the chains against Denver’s No. 1 defense.“He was good. You know we have a really good defense and when you turn on the lights and have a real pass rush, that’s a top-5 defense. So, I’m not surprised,” Joseph said. “And it’s been more competitive this year than it was last year offensively. They’ve won more days than they won last year at training camp.“So, I am not down on the offense at all.”Neither is star cornerback Chris Harris Jr., who said, “Our offense is way better than they were last year, with Case under center. He’s throwing great balls. He’s had great accuracy all camp. He’s improved from the OTAs. When I watch film, the (first) offense is doing something totally different than the (second) offense.“It’s like they’re a level 10 and everybody else is a level way lower. So, Case and them are clicking right now and I expect them to put up points. I don’t see anybody really just shutting them down with the receivers that we got, and our O-line is way better. So, I see them putting up points, at least 30 a game.”of the Broncos’ offense once the preseason gets here and it’s not just situational drills he’s running. The Broncos open their exhibition schedule Saturday night against Keenum’s old team, the Minnesota Vikings, where Siemian is now backing up Kirk Cousins.NOTES: In addition to C Matt Paradis (illness) and TE Jeff Heuerman (knee), LT Ronald Leary (knee) and DT Matt Gotsis (ankle) were held out of the scrimmage as a precaution.
Chris Ballard keeps collecting draft chips. He figures it gives him better odds to hit it big.One year after moving back three spots in the first round and making four second-round selections Ross Pierschbacher Jersey , Ballard did it again Thursday by sending the No. 26 overall pick to the Washington Redskins for two second-round picks. Indy will now select at No. 34, courtesy of last year’s deal with the New York Jets, at No. 46, thanks to the Redskins, and at No. 59, their own pick on Friday, plus they’ve added the Redskins’ second-round pick in 2020.“It was just a chance to pick up a 2020 second-round pick, we thought the value was good and we thought there was still good enough value to be there in the second round to move back,” Ballard said. “We think the ability of having three seconds, we thought that was the strength of how we had it lined up.”It’s all part of a plan.Ballard knew it would be difficult to replicate last year’s successes. He had five picks in the first two rounds, found starters with each of his first three choices and Indy’s first two selections — left guard Quenton Nelson and linebacker Darius Leonard — became the first rookie teammates to become first-team All-Pros since Gale Sayers and Dick Butkus with the Chicago Bears in 1965.At Monday’s pre-draft news conference, Ballard told reporters that the Colts had eight players targeted in the first round. And though he acknowledged some were still available when Indy went on the clock Da’Ron Payne Jersey , he still opted for Plan B: Moving out of the first round for better value in the second. In fact, he hinted at the prospect of a trade when he joked with reporters that he might not speak again until Friday.“I kind of had a feeling (Monday), I don’t know why,” he said. “Sometimes you just have a feeling. I had a feeling we would have a chance to get out and it would be the best thing for us long term.”He may not be finished dealing, either. In three seasons with the Colts, he has now made eight trades involving trade picks though he knew this one might not be well-received.“We’ve got a room full of people, we’ve got you all sitting here, I get it, everyone wants you to pick a player,” he said. “But I’m pretty patient. I don’t panic, we don’t panic, we stay true to what we’re looking at on the board.”The Colts now have 10 picks this weekend including their own third-rounder Quinton Dunbar Jersey , No. 89 overall, on Friday.__ A report that Washington is planning to play without quarterback Alex Smith during the 2019 season was dismissed as “nonsense” by team president Bruce Allen last month.Allen couldn’t rule Smith in for next season, however, and one of Smith’s teammates believes the compound leg fracture that Smith suffered will push any possible return to 2020. Running back Chris Thompson doesn’t sound like he knows anything for sure, but, unlike Allen, is willing to admit that planning for life without Smith seems the logical course of action right now.“We know and understand that it’s probably not going to happen that we have him this year,” Thompson said, via NBC Sports Washington. There have been talks with Josh Johnson about signing a new deal with the team, but Colt McCoy is set up as the likely No. 1 unless Smith’s recovery takes a rapid turn for the best. Should there be a move that bumps McCoy down a rung, it would be a clear sign that Thompson’s view is on the money.
Three years ago Paul Richardson Jersey , a little-known and undersized running back out of Abilene Christian led the Kansas City Chiefs in rushing, filling in admirably for an injured Jamaal Charles.for a job. That alone is a sign of just how much deeper and more talented the Chiefs' stable of running backs is this season. Kareem Hunt led the league in rushing as a rookie, but there is a crush of ability and experience nipping at his heels."There's a good number of backs here that we have," offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy said, "and we're very, very blessed and fortunate. We just want to watch these guys compete."These guys: West, who managed just 72 yards on 18 carries last season; Spencer Ware, who led the Chiefs in rushing two years ago before sustaining a season-ending injury in preseason; Kerwynn Williams, who started six games last season for Arizona; Damien Williams, who appeared in 58 games over the past four seasons in Miami; and Darrel Williams, perhaps the biggest dark horse of the bunch.Williams backed up Leonard Fournette and Derrius Guice the past few years at LSU, a big reason why he went undrafted this past April. But many scouts believe he has the talent to succeed, noting he averaged 5.7 yards a carry last season — better than Guice, a second-round pick."I probably say this every year Case Keenum Jersey , but the talent pool has gotten deeper," Bieniemy said. "I look forward to it. Why? Because it brings out the best in each and every one of them."There are a multitude of reasons why the Chiefs have invested so heavily in the position. For one thing, the value of running backs has swung back to the positive after many had written them off in the era of the pass-happy NFL. Offensive coordinators have started to utilize them in creative ways, employing them as pass-catchers and blockers along with running. No wonder three running backs were selected in the first round of the draft, and four more in the second round, headlined by Saquon Barkley going to the Giants at No. 2 overall. Then there's the misfortune that has befallen Kansas City at the position.Twice the franchise lost Charles to season-ending injuries in his prime, the first time resulting in Jackie Battle leading the team in rushing. Then, after Ware's transition from fullback to running back led to a breakout season, he tore up his knee in last year's preseason game against Seattle. The Chiefs were fortunate that Hunt emerged as a bona fide star, but they nonetheless headed into the season with a relatively shallow backfield. West handled some spot duty, and Akeem Hunt and an aged C.J. Spiller saw action, but it was quarterback Alex Smith that was second on the team in rushing.General manager Brett Veach hardly wants new quarterback Patrick Mahomes II to do likewise"In my mind and obviously in Brett's mind — because he's the one who did this — you can't have enough of those guys," Chiefs coach Andy Reid said. "We figured, listen, if we have a chance to get good players lets go ahead and better ourselves Adrian Peterson Jersey , let the competition be there and see what happens. I'm expecting Spencer to be back, but you never know, and you've got kids that can play."The depth has already paid off the first week of camp, giving Hunt a chance to rest a stiff hamstring Friday and Ware an opportunity to slowly get back into game shape."I've never shied away from competition," Ware said. "My ultimate goal is to make my team better and to get better as a player — to make myself more valuable for my team and let them be able to use me in any way they can."NOTES: Rookie FS Armani Watts was back on the field Saturday after tweaking his ankle. "He needs reps now," Reid said. "If you're going to make this team you have to show it." ... West took a shot to the head during the team's first padded practice and was being evaluated by team doctors. The deal sending quarterback Case Keenum from Denver to Washington is now official and there’s a fair chance that Keenum will wind up as the team’s starter in Week One of the regular season. There’s also a fair chance that the team will look in another direction. While no one is expecting Alex Smith back from his leg injury, Colt McCoy remains on hand and Keenum’s reworked contract leaves the team on the hook for just $3.5 million in 2019. That leaves the door open for another move for a current NFL player and for the team to use a draft pick on a quarterback.Washington head coach Jay Gruden addressed that possibility in a statement accompanying the announcement of the Keenum trade.“We still may address it in the draft, who knows? But we have to have two quarterbacks in OTA’s and for someone to come in here and compete with Colt,” Gruden said. “We all feel great about Colt without a doubt but he’s had his injury history as well, and we anticipate a competitive camp with those two guys. And if we add a third guy via the draft or somewhere else, we’ll roll the ball out there and let them play, but I feel good about Colt and Case’s skillset; they are very similar so it’ll be easy to draw up plays for those two guys.”Keenum struggled along with the Broncos last year and said that the experience “made me a better person” and made him tougher than he was in the past. He’s hoping for a more positive experience this time around, although his chances of reaching that goal might be tied to what else the team has in the works.
